Why DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz Should Be Fired

FILE - This Oct. 11, 2012 file photo shows Democratic National Committee Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D- Fla., speaking at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. President Barack Obama wants Wasserman Schultz to stay on as his party’s chairwoman. Wasserman Schultz has overseen the Democratic National Committee since early 2011. Party officials credit her in part with helping the president carry her home state of Florida, as well as leading the party to an expanded majority in the Senate and more seats in the House. With #FireDebbie trending, some are wondering just exactly who Debbie is, and why she’s unfit to be the DNC Chair. This largely centers around the attempt to stop the massive growth of independent presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who promised to end Citizen’s United, a corrupt Supreme Court ruling. Citizen’s United, decided in January of 2010, dictates that unions and corporations can make financial expenditures in favor of a specific candidate. This gives an obscene amount of power to organizations with a lot of capital and a political agenda to push. As a result, his democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, has received most of her campaign funding from Wall Street donations and Super PACs. She tries to distance herself from these donations, as seen by #MaddisDollar, where Clinton sent out a desperate email asking for small donations of $1 in order to lower the amount of her average donation. Schultz has been accused of favoring Hillary Clinton by Sanders activists, and a recent quote from her in a CNN interview adds some merit to their claims.

“Unpledged delegates exist really to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists,” she told Jake Tapper on Thursday. This is a blatant display of corruption: Unless Bernie Sanders can win the majority of delegates who have already pledged their support to Hillary Clinton, it will be difficult for him to win the democratic nomination even if he has the support of the majority of Americans. This is displayed prominently in the case of the New Hampshire primary and Iowa caucus. In the Iowa caucus, Clinton won the popular vote by a fraction of a percentage, and in New Hampshire, Sanders won by 22%. In Iowa, Hillary won 29 delegates, while Sanders only won 21. In New Hampshire, Sanders won 15 delegates, while Hillary won 9 despite her abysmal result of 38% of the popular vote.

Further, on Saturday Debbie Schultz lifted the last bit of restrictions that stopped Wall Street from being able to give unlimited funds to the DNC. This is a move that will undoubtedly help Hillary Clinton when her main competitor refuses to take any Wall Street donations, preferring instead that his supporters fund the growth of his campaign. Now that Wall Street can donate as much money to the DNC that favors the establishment politician, Hillary Clinton has made victory for Bernie Sanders that little bit more difficult.

The combination of these two main factors — along with how she has chosen to schedule democratic debates during times where there is less viewership — makes it clear the Debbie Schultz is unfit to be controlling one of the two main political parties in the United States. If we do not stand watchful and refuse to allow corruption to flourish in our political system, America will soon no longer represent the views of its people, instead allowing itself to be sold to the highest bidder.

If you’d like to see this corruption end, all people need to work together. A good start would be telling your friends about the issues within the DNC, and signing this MoveOn petition: Link here! Other good options would be to call the DNC at 202-863-8000 to let them know what you think of the current chair.

Additionally, Tim Canova is a strong critic of Wall Street corruption running for Debbie’s spot.

It’s not that I think Debbie is unfit based on character or credentials. But anyone who previously worked for a campaign of a current nominee should not be in charge of making sure the election process is fair and unbiased. Debbie should have been releived of her duties as chair – at least temporarily – and replaced by the most qualified Democrat without alligences to either candidate, especially ones as clear as being a former campaign chair for that SAME nominee in a previous election. How that bias isn’t blatant to everyone escapes me.

Sorry but wasserman -schultz IS unfit because of her character, her obvious bias, and her lack of true leadership. She jumped on Bernie supporters after Nevada about a chair throwing incident that never happened- so much for the DNC being neutral. She has allowed the rigging of state conventions and primaries= she has no place in the party.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz should be FIRED, because she represents maintenance of an ENTRENCHED ESTABLISHMENT in the Democratic Party, rather than democracy; the Democratic Party name represents democracy, and the autocratic use of Democratic Party SUPER-DELEGATES to manipulate the election in the Democratic Party Primary Election is DUE CAUSE to FIRE Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and to INVESTIGATE the entire Democratic Party Primary Election Process.

Sanders needs to run as an Independent if the DNC rigs the election. He said he wouldn’t but that was prior to knowing they would rig everything. Then there will be no point in rigging it because they can’t win.

YES. She should go. It is bad enough that the corporate media NEVER or hardly ever mentions Bernie’s name in spite of what has been happening. We do not have a free press, but even worse than that, the DNC has taken sides and made it very obvious that they do not want what the voters want. What do you think this does to the party? Some people say that Bernie cannot win the general. I’ve seen many polls and not one of them bares that out.

“Unpledged delegates exist really to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists.”

So- they exist to ensure that the party has a viable way to ignore the will of the people. Disgusting.

DWS should be fired… She is blatantly favoring HRC campaign…. Intereferd with Bernie’s data access, admitted superdelegate rule is to benefit Establishment candidate… And now reversed ban on lobbyist contributions… DWS promotes corruption in the DNC and seriously impedes the “Democratic Process”
